Most of our customers are very aware of the equipment they're looking to buy, but sometimes they're either starting a new research study or are new to the job and certain details can be overlooked.
We recently had a situation where a new customer had ordered replacement Bongo nets to fit their existing Bongo frames. This is something that happens quite often.
Bongo nets are fairly standard, available in various lengths and usually only a few diameter options. The most common frame sizes are 60 cm, 61 cm and 63 cm.
Unfortunately, this can be confusing, as Bongo nets wrap around the frame instead of being attached to it like an ordinary plankton net.
When someone orders a new bongo net with a new frame, we manufacture the net to fit the new frame to the requested specifications. But when someone orders a replacement net for an existing frame, there's an important variable to check to ensure a good fit.
As the threads are slid (adjusted) around the frame, it is extremely important to give us the outside diameter of the frame and not the inside diameter...
So, as a general rule, if you're ordering a brand new bongo set, you don't need to worry about anything, but if you're ordering a replacement net for an existing frame, please confirm that the diameter you're giving us is the outside diameter.
Have a nice day!
